HOWLS Membership – Giving Hay Library a Future
At a meeting held on 6th March 2017 at Hay Library, those in attendance agreed to adopt a constitution (with a couple of amendments) and HOWLS formally became a membership organisation. It is hoped that by having a more formal structure we are in a stronger position to negotiate with Powys County Council about the future of Hay Library.
If you would like to be a part of ‘Giving Hay Library a Future’ then please sign up here to become a member of HOWLS and we will keep you updated.
A copy of the constitution was made available at the meeting on 6th March 2017 and the new amended version can be downloaded by clicking here
If you have questions about the new organisation then please contact info@savehaylibrary.org and we will endeavour to assist.
Reminder – Next Meeting March 6th 7pm Hay Library
Following the highly successful public meeting in February, it was agreed that HOWLS should become a membership organisation, with defined aims and a democratic structure. This would give HOWLS a clear identity and strengthen our ability to negotiate with Powys County Council.
The meeting on Monday 6th March is to give supporters an opportunity to sign up as members and find out how they can get more involved and also for those that have joined up as members, to formally adopt the constitution and elect a management committee to co-ordinate the campaign.
To encourage member involvement HOWLS will be setting up a series of working groups to delegate the work of the campaign. It is hoped that these informal groups of members will provide an opportunity for us to work together on different aspects of the campaign e.g. Research & Fact Finding, Press & Publicity, Social Events, Library Development and Fundraising etc.
There will be a display of the proposed structure of HOWLS at the meeting and if anyone would like to know more then Anita Wright and others who have been involved so far, will be at the library from 6pm on Monday to answer any questions you may have before the meeting.
Any signed up member of HOWLS can put themselves forward to be on the management committee or to be part of a working group, so if you want to know more or discuss how you’d like to help then please contact info@savehaylibrary.org
Next Meeting – Monday 6th March 2017
As explained by Anita (Wright) at the public meeting the next stage is to formalise HOWLS as a unincorporated association, with a HOWLS Constitution March 2017, members and a management committee.
On Monday 6th March there will be a open meeting at 7pm at Hay Library, when the constitution will be adopted and the group officially formed.
If you are interested in helping to shape the future of Hay Library then please attend this meeting if you can. If you are unable to attend but would like to be on the management committee or get involved with one of the working groups then please email info@savehaylibrary.org with details of your areas of interest or speciality and we will keep you informed.
More information will be sent out ahead of the meeting and posted here on the website.
